What keeps Jennifer Aniston looking so radiantly young and beautiful?

According to starpulse.com, Aniston has now confessed that her secret is her daily practice of Transcendental Meditation.

When asked about the number one thing which has kept her looking so amazing, Jennifer said:

“I’d say a little over a year ago I started doing TM and that’s really changed everything. Starting your day off with that and ending with that is pretty powerful. Twenty minutes, you just notice the difference. When I get lazy and don’t get it in, I can feel a difference. I do it first thing when I wake up.”

She also admitted that if yoga didn’t exist, she would probably have to invent it.

But what if she could trade bodies with someone for 24 hours?

“I’d love to be able to ski like a crazy person, like Lindsey Vonn. Then I’d also like to have Gisele’s body, just ‘cuz, why not?” Aniston referred to the supermodel and fellow fan of yoga and meditation, Gisele Bündchen.

Arnold Schwarzenegger says 1 year (and only 1 year) of Transcendental Meditation changed his life

"I did 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night, and I would say within 14 days or three weeks, I got to the point where I could really ... learn how to focus more and calm down"

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career was skyrocketing to a new level in 1975. He was the greatest bodybuilder in the world and had the beginnings of a film career.

Schwarzenegger had just finished shooting the film “Stay Hungry” and was participating in the documentary “Pumping Iron,” which followed him through his training for Mr. Olympia, which he would win for the sixth straight time. He was also a successful California real-estate investor.

As his international celebrity — and bank account — grew, Schwarzenegger realized that despite his signature extreme self-confidence, he was starting to feel overwhelmed, he tells author Tim Ferriss in the latest episode of Ferriss’ podcast.

“Eventually it felt like I’ve got to do something about it because I have such great opportunities here and everything is happening and everything is going my way, but I’m just clustering [it all]into one big problem rather than separating it out and having calm and peace and being happy,” Schwarzenegger said.

He told Ferriss that during this time he ran into a friend at the beach who told him that he was teaching TM, which prompted Schwarzenegger to reveal he had been struggling with anxiety for the first time in his life.

His friend set him up with an instructor who taught him the proper TM technique, which entails sitting with your eyes closed for 15 to 20 minutes while breathing deeply and repeating a mantra.

“I did 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night, and I would say within 14 days or three weeks, I got to the point where I could really disconnect my mind … and learn how to focus more and calm down,” Schwarzenegger says.

After a year of daily practice, Schwarzenegger’s anxiety had subsided, and he no longer felt as if he needed to keep up his TM habit. But he tells Ferriss that his year of intense daily meditation fundamentally changed the way he approached life.

Today Schwarzenegger prefers to work intensely for 45 to 60 minutes on whichever project he is involved in before playing a game of chess to detach his mind from whatever he had been focusing on. He uses workouts in the same way.

Ultimately, TM taught Schwarzenegger that the root of his anxiety was seeing all of his responsibilities as part of a massive, interconnected task that seemed impossible to overcome.

“Even today, I still benefit from the year of TM because I don’t merge and bring things together and see everything as one big problem,” he says.

For example, now when Schwarzenegger studies a script for a movie, he says, “I don’t let anything else interfere. I just concentrate on that.”

“I grew up around a lot of people – friends, family – who were meditating. Meditation is an incredible way of centering myself, of calming myself, and really getting perspective on where I am.
After I did the first week of Transcendental Meditation where I did it twice a day, from that moment on I’ve never been that frazzled or that tired ever again. It was like it sort of restored my body on such a deep level. There was like a week’s worth of sleep. From that moment forward it was like I knew day and way. My whole nervous system reacted differently. I feel much less panicked and anxious and more calm about things. But I also feel deeply centered and rested.”

Have you ever heard of Rick Rubin? What about Jay-z, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, U2, Lana Del Rey, Eminem, Johnny Cash, or the Dixie Chicks? Believe it or not, Rubin has played a huge role in all of their musical careers and so many more. His appearance, positive attitude, and production tactics have many people referring to him as a “guru” of the music world. He makes people he works with feel inexplicably comfortable, allowing them to fully express themselves in the moment. Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks has praised his production methods, saying, “He has the ability and the patience to let music be discovered, not manufactured. Come to think of it, maybe he is a guru.”

Along that line, the David Lynch Foundation recently presented Rick Rubin with the Lifetime of Harmony Award.

David Lynch said, “Rick Rubin is the hottest music producer around. He has the ears to hear. He has the genius to tune into each artist he works with to bring out their true self—their dreams—their wishes—and the genius to make their music sound better than they could imagine. On top of this, Rick is a long time Transcendental Meditation meditator and has brought Transcendental Meditation and its benefits to many others traveling along his road. Rick is living and enjoying the good life which comes from diving within each day. We at the David Lynch Foundation are so happy to be honoring the great Rick Rubin with the Lifetime of Harmony Award.”

The following is from an interview held just before the event between Rolling Stone Magazine’s, Avid Edwards and Production Legend, Rick Rubin.

————————————————–

Before the tribute started, a trim Rubin sat crosslegged and barefoot on a chair in an empty banquet room, looking like a guru with his long gray beard (albeit one in shorts and a T-shirt), to discuss Transcendental Meditation’s role in his life and music.

How did you get interested in transcendental meditation?
When I was 14 years old, I went to see my pediatrician, the doctor who delivered me, because my neck hurt when I went to school. He said, incredibly for his day, that it was stress and I needed to learn to meditate. As he said it, I remember thinking, My parents aren’t going to go for this. But they said, “Oh, well, if that’s what the doctor says.”

Were you skeptical when you started?
I was open to it. I’m a Beatles fanatic, and the Beatles connection [they learned TM from its inventor, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi]was strong enough that I wanted to learn anything that the Beatles were involved in.

Did you drop acid for the same reason?
No, I’ve never done that.

Did TM work for you?
I can’t remember how it affected my neck issues, but it definitely affected my life. I did it from when I was 14 until I was going to NYU. Maybe stopping was a backwards version of trying to find out who I was — meditating was part of my family life, even though nobody else in my family did it.

After I moved to California, I decided I was going to start again, after not doing TM for five years. To actually start took months: it seemed like a very big decision. From the first meditation back, I realized that the person I am was shaped by the experience of the years of meditation. I feel like I can see deeply into things in a way that many of the people around me don’t, or can’t.

How has it colored what you do musically?
It allows me to be very present with the artists I’m with. I think TM has trained me to be a very good listener. It’s a big part of the job.

Are there times when you’re in the studio with somebody and you think they’d benefit from learning TM?
All the time. I’ve bought TM for artists and I’ve made albums where we would meditate before each session. When we made Californication, we meditated before each session. At least two [of the Red Hot Chili Peppers]every time, sometimes three, rarely four. Tom Petty, when we made Wildflowers, we often meditated before we started each session.

There’s a great deal of bull&@#t that people think about when they make music, things that don’t matter. TM kind of wipes that away, and you focus on the real job at hand, as opposed to thinking about what the management wants, or what the record company’s saying, or what somebody at a radio station might think.

Talk a little about your daily TM practice.
Typically, I’ll wake up, sit up in bed, and do 20 minutes. When I wake up in the morning, usually the remnants of dreams are still very present in me, and it takes me a minute to get to be me again. I’m a little lost when I wake up. TM helps me center and ground myself. When possible, I do it again before dinner. Then the evening starts as more of its own time, and not just a continuation of the busy work day. Although sometimes it’s a busy night.

People seem to talk about TM with both a mystical language and scientific language.
It’s both. I’m more attracted to the mystical side, but the reality is there’s all these scientific surveys that support the mysticism. It usually works that way — eventually science catches up to the magic.

Do you think your own creativity has changed over the years?
It’s always intuitive, but over time, the craft becomes better. In the beginning, I was a complete novice, and now I’m a complete novice with 30 years of experience. There’s wisdom that comes with experience. I would do certain things in the early days that wisdom would have prevented me from doing, and those were probably good things too! When I started in music, it was only about a drumbeat and words. That was about my level of understanding, and then over time, I started understanding more of the elements that could be used. It’s just more tools in the toolbox: this song would sound good if it had a bigger production, and this song would sound good if it was stripped down, and knowing the difference.

Everyone’s got some of this, although many don’t have enough, and I rarely meet a person who doesn’t want more. And it’s not...well, watch and find out for yourself what Jerry Seinfeld calls “the greatest riches in human life,” and how you can get more.

The Video: Jerry Seinfeld has been practicing the TM technique for over 40 years. This clip is from an interview with Bob Roth, on his SiriusXM radio show “Success Without Stress.” You can listen to the full interview here. Bob Roth is the executive director of the David Lynch Foundation, a nonprofit that provides scholarships for at-risk populations – such as inner-city school children, soldiers and veterans, domestic abuse victims, and more – to learn the stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation technique

The Technique: Transcendental Meditation is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced 20 minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. It is easy to learn and enjoyable to practice, and is not a religion, philosophy, or lifestyle. Over six million people have learned it — people of all ages, cultures, and religions — and over 350 published research studies have found that the TM technique markedly reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue, and promotes balanced functioning of mind and body.

6 million people have learned the TM technique. Here’s what 5 of them – Katy Perry, Liv Tyler, Lykke Li, Sky Ferreira, and Sheryl Crow – have to say about it.

6 million people have learned the TM technique. Here’s what 5 of them have to say about their practice.

Katy Perry
“It’s something that’s with you for your whole life. You learn your mantra, it never leaves you, and it’s the deepest rest your brain gets. For people that are so creative and have this kind of creative faucet that never turns off – it just continues and continues – it can be a little exhausting. And, you know, with the continual responsibility of having 127 people on the road, and always being the point person for everything, my subconscious is going even when I’m sleeping. I’m dreaming about whatever I’m creating next, or relationships, or blah, blah, blah. So I’m never really off. And meditation is actually the one time I get to really reset.” [source]

Liv Tyler
“After I did the first week of Transcendental Meditation where I did it twice a day, from that moment on I’ve never been that frazzled ever again, or that tired ever again. It was like it sort of restored my body on such a deep level. There was like a week’s worth of sleep. From that moment forward it was like a new day in a way. I felt like my whole nervous system reacted differently. I felt much less panicked and anxious and calm about things. But I also feel deeply centered and rested.” [source]

Lykke Li
“I’ve tried a million ways to escape and expand, from psychedelics to psychics, yoga to benders, shamans, healers, therapists, lovers, you name it. When I met David the first time, I told him all my problems, and he then introduced me to TM. It has changed my life in so many ways. I am deeply in tune with my heart and core, and it’s made me a better writer, artist, and most of all woman. It’s made me more myself.” [source]

Sky Ferreira
“I recently just started doing Transcendental Meditation with Bob Roth at the David Lynch foundation recently. I originally started it to help me with anxiety & insomnia. It’s already made my life waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better & even with my stage fright. Which I used to think there was no cure for…Last night was the first night I’ve slept 8 hours naturally in my entire life. I felt the best I have in ages. It’s better than any medication or all of the other nonsense I’ve tried. Check it out <3” [source]

Sheryl Crow
“One of the things — and this comes from someone who was highly self-critical and a type-A personality — that has changed my life is meditating. The simple act of making my brain shut off for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night may not seem like much, but what ends up happening, besides creating space in your day, is your awake posture begins to replicate your meditative posture.” [source]
